Pete, I'm not sure about the edge condition. Do you know what kind of plant you will use that will want to grow up over the edge on a metal panel? I like the look. Is it accessible to be trimmed?

Hi Anne... I was thinking about something akin to Ivy?? I cant imagine that I couldnt find something that would grow downward over the roof edge...

Pete... how close is your parapet detail (no.2) to the green "ivy" wall? As a detail and overall design, it would be interesting to see how the green wall attachs itself to the rest of the building. Is it free standing? Or does it "connect"? Does the ivy from the wall eventually wrap itself onto the larger massing? Some thoughts...

Peter, four thingS. I would suggest to change your parapet drainage direction towards the flat roof, away from the wall, unless you like the unsightly discoloring of your walls over time from the water moving the city dirt collecting on the flashing downwards. Also, the sheet metal flashing in my experience is not done with the craftsmanship you would like to see terminating your building towards the sky. Minimizing exposure of bent metal is usually a good thing.
Can you send me a link where I can learn about your insulated precst panel; I'm not familiar with it.
I'm not aware of plants that successfully grow down; the climbers I know (including ivy) like to grow up the walls. There are a few plans that make shoots or runners that can drape your building, but unlike ivy that clings to the building, these plants would be swinging in the wind... . Typically I would use them more indoors.
The metal panel wall doesn't quite work for me yet. For starters I woudl like to see 2" min. of spray applied insulation. Unless you can use wood studs the insulation should be applied outside the studs, as the metal stude are nasty cold bridges. So, Ideally your wall would be composed as follows from inside out: interior sheating, vapor barrier, metal stud, exterior sheating, moisture barrier, insulation, sub girt system, metal panel.
